| Jilli's journey has been an adventure to say the
least...She was born in Manhattan in 1951 and raised in Valley Stream, Long Island, New
York. She has been a resident of Coral Springs, Florida
for over 20 years. Jilli's a self-taught artist, mother
of 3 children and was a student of Kenpo Karate for over 5
years where she learned she COULD accomplish the impossible! After a 2-year break, Jilli followed her heart back to her old dojo
to study kick-boxing... still learning there is no
such thing as "CAN'T"... Jilli recently
substituted martial arts for ballroom dancing, as a student
and teacher to high school students... Jilli's immersed herself in many
aspects of art, from poetry writing, to fabric design and
construction, paintings on stone and fabric, to watercolor,
oil and acrylics. She seems to get lost in all
forms of art, eager to learn as much as she can, never
settling down to any one...always trying, whatever she can, to
get her hands dirty! Her passion is in portraits.
Jilli painted her first portrait (Albert Einstein) in 1994,
and one year later, with over 30 portraits, held a one
woman show entitled "Faces From Around The World". Soon
after, she produced 8 lithographs
currently sold in stores and catalogues nationwide. By June
2001, Jilli's creations expanded to the sale of hotplates,
greeting cards, coasters, mugs, mouse pads, murals and
more. And so, the corporation, "just another jilli" was
was born. During an interesting leg of this journey,
a book of poetry came forth from a place in her heart that she
had no idea existed. Jilli learned quite a lot about
love and pain, and decided to share these emotions with the
dream of publishing this book. She'd always thought
she'd devote serious time to sculpture when her children left
the nest, but recently unearthed ancient clay that had been
collecting dust in the garage, and in one weekend, created 18
mini-sculptures, several she's included in the illustrations
of this book. When asked what she wants to be when she
grows up, Jilli replied:" I STILL haven't decided what I want
to be when i grow up...I'm just enjoying this wonderful
journey...path by path..."
